Winter Springs are Great

Pedder Bay RV Resort & Marina - November 26, 2010

Chinook

Winter spring fishing is doing very well weather permitting. Pedder Bay, Whirl Bay and Constance Bank are producing weather permitting. Try using spoons like the Cop Car Coyote and Purple Haze Squirts with a short leader (27”) behind a Purple Haze flasher or a flasher with glow-in-the-dark components such as the Boogieman flasher. Fish close to the bottom and set your troll speed higher than you would in the summer. You are fishing for young and aggressive feeders, don’t give time to think about you bait just enough to see it and hit it.

Tips

Winter is obviously upon us when you are going to go fishing here’s a few tips to keep your hands warm:

Take a couple of dry rags to wipe your hands off
Wear surgical gloves (buy good thick ones from the pharmacy)
Take a couple pairs of fingerless gloves with you when a pair gets wet switch over.

Head Recovery

Please folks remember and make the effort to turn in all you hatchery fish heads. The more heads the DFO gets the more accurate of a picture the department has to manage the fishery. Without comprehensive data the management style will be to manage to the worst case scenario. Help keep yourself and others on the water by participating in this valuable program.
