The Bite Me Derby was held this past weekend with a great success. 118 springs were weighed in over the weekend with Tony Thibeau’s 39 lb. Chinook taking first prize. One of our own, Sean Hutcheson, took third prize with a 31 lb. Chinook fishing of the Trap Shack.
Lots of reports of Sockeye being caught in the third tide line area fishing 40 to 70 feet deep. Lots of guys are catching their Sockeye while fishing for Springs. Sockeye seem to be taking anchovies as well as the usual small pink hoochies.
Halibut have been found in all the usual spots. Brian and Chris Lindsay brought in a nice 60 lb. halibut from Constance Bank. The bait of choice was herring. If you are fishing with a spreader bar rig make sure you put a leader on for your weight this helps you hooks not snag the bottom and helps the fish see your offering.
Good look out there, and remember to let us know how you did.
See you on the water,
~Richard and the Pedder Bay Crew.
