Salmon
Salmon fishing reports have been slow this past while. I personally don’t thinks that it a factor of there not being fish but that no-one is fishing for them. From reports on both sides of Pedder Bay there are fish here!
Halibut
Halibut fishing has been great so far this spring. So far the largest fish we have seen landed here is 109lbs. Caught by John Christensen and a 108 lber caught by Mr. Stennes. Lots of fish have been brought in that are in the range of 20-80 lbs.

Bottom fish
Bottom fish regulations have changed you are now allowed to keep a lingcod that is 60cm or greater you are allowed 1 rock cod per day.
Coming this year is one of the biggest returns of Pink Salmon that we have had in many years. Plan to take you family or the local kids out fishing late July and August for these guys. It’s a great thing to have everyone get a chance at a fish and get a few new people hooked on fishing.
Crabbing
Remember to drop you r traps for a few crabs when you are heading out. The commercial traps haven’t been in Pedder for a while and fishing has been doing well. Please everyone remember that it’s the law to mark your floats with you name and phone number. This keeps you in the good books with the DFO and also gives no excuses for unwanted “visitors” to you trap. Also remember to weight your trap lines that way you and your fellow boaters do not have to worry about hitting your trap line. A polypropylene line in a prop can cause considerable damage to a leg or shaft not too mention the possible loss of you trap.
Tight lines everyone,
