Word on the Dock

January Word on the Dock

- January 5, 2009

The weather sure took its toll on the fishing expeditions his holiday season. Over the past week there has been some great winter spring fishing. Just yesterday Mark on board the Zoloft landed a 20+ Chinook. Commonly the fish are weighing in at the 6-12lb mark.

When out fishing for these tasty morsels try fishing near the sandy bottoms with purple haze squirts, green ghost hoochies, and purple haze or green flashers. As for the spots the can buoy in the bay or Whirl Bay are consistent producers. Last year some guys were trying over to the east in Perry bay and doing quite well as well.

The end of this coming summer season is the deadline for EVERYONE to have their safe boaters card. This is for all sizes of boats etc. so no better time than the present to go ahead and do the course on line (look up PCOC on Google).

Speaking of safety, if you are going out on the water to search for those fore mentioned springs please make sure you are equipped with warm clothing fully charged communication devices and enough gas, battery etc. to make your trip safe and comfortable. At this time of year you may be the only one on the water and waving a paddle at no one will do you no good. Think of your friends and family before you go out.

The regulations as of Jan 2, 2009…

Best wishes to all this coming year and tight lines,
