Excitement Builds as the JDF Derby Approaches

Pedder Bay RV Resort & Marina - June 15, 2011

With a grand prize of $30,000, competitors are eager to hit the water June 18th and 19th for the 2011 Juan de Fuca derby. Although the forecast calls for showers, there are sure to be fishermen out at the break of dawn hunting for a big one. Luckily for the competitors, fishing regulations are scheduled to change at midnight of the 16th; allowing 2 Chinook per day, one hatchery or wild being over 67 cm and the other between 45 and 67 cm. With word of many big wilds being caught and released lately due to the regulations, this change will definitely increase the weights of the fish caught.

With other specialty prizes being offered, including a random draw for an all-inclusive package for 2 to the MV Charlotte Princess on Langara Island donated by Oak Bay Marine Group, contestants still have something to wish for even if they didn’t get lucky during the derby.

Here at Pedder Bay we will be offering a few Derby Specials! This includes FREE overnight moorage during the derby if you book two nights in the RV Resort, and for only $69 you can rent one of our 16’ fibreglass boats as well as enjoy one nights stay in our serene RV Resort.

Feel free to contact us with any inquiries and good luck to everyone participating in the derby!
