Chinook, Coho and Pinks abound

- July 10, 2007

The Pinks and the Coho are here! Now there are three of the five salmon species to target here at Pedder Bay.

Chinook fishng has been doing well with most folks using anchovies on Anchovy Special heads. Colours range from green/chrome scale and UV all the way to the radical tiger prawn.

If you are fishing for Chinook you are in fine shape to be targeting Coho as well. Pinks can be caught with the Chinook/Coho gear but if you want to target them switch over to the red flasher/red hootchie combination. This combo has always been very effective for Pink salmon.

People have been finding fish everywhere from Pedder Bay itself to the Trap Shack. I have heard of depths from 50′ to 200′ deep. As for Pinks, hunting the tide lines off shore a bit will produce these fish with consistency. These little guys are ravenous and will certainly let you know where they are near by all their jumping and biting.

The next set of halibut tides off Vancouver Island will start on Friday the 20th through to the 23rd.

It’s time to go fishing: the boats are ready and fishing is fine.

See you here!
